Brentford is intriguing and has given us John Wilkes the political radical, Sarah Trimmer and Sunday schools but probably more famously for those with a taste for humour and science fiction, the incomparable Robert Rankin. JMW Turner passed through in his childhood but still managed to pick up his first artistic commission.

The overarching purpose of Brentford Lock West is to capture the needs, wishes and ambition of the whole community  In a sense the scheme can never be finalised as it has its own dynamic components that will cause it to evolve as people join the community and more information is gleaned or revealed. The creation of a sustainable community that is part of and contributing to the success of Brentford will be the true long term measure of the project.
